Bus Services

We pay for bus services to run in places and at times where there is no commercial (that is, unsubsidised) service.

Without these contracted services, many rural parts of the county, and even some urban areas, would have no public transport at all. Many better-populated areas would only have buses during the daytime on weekdays, without any early morning, evening and Sunday services.

School buses

Many home to school services are also funded by the Transport Executive.

All bus services which run under contract to the Transport Executive are subject to competitive tender, and the contracts are awarded only to properly licensed PSV operators.

Bus operators - passenger and revenue performance

Passenger and revenue performance reports must be received, ideally by email to the Transport Executive no later than six working days after the end of the relevant accounting period.
