Community Infrastructure Fund (Round 2) Bids

In South Yorkshire, arrangements have been established based on the Transform South Yorkshire delivery partnership, which ensure close working between the four local authorities and SYPTE on housing and transportation matters and regeneration generally, which has provided the basis for the Growth Point and Community Infrastructure Fund bids.

The South Yorkshire Authorities are pleased to support this package of Community Infrastructure Fund (Round Two) Business Cases.

This submission, made in May 2009, was in response to the short listing and invitation from
Department for Transport (DfT) and Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) on 27 March and in line with subsequent guidance issued by the Homes and Communities Agency on
16 April 2009.

In line with the short listing notification of 27 March, South Yorkshire is submitting three Full Business Cases for the following areas:

Each of the projects outlined in this package of bids closely relates to specific development sites included within the Growth Point Programme of Development.

Each of the projects will be instrumental to unlocking growth and accelerating delivery of new homes in the period to 2016/17 and beyond.

It is important to emphasise that the CIF2 bids are closely aligned with bids for New Growth Point (NGP) funding, with an emphasis on relating infrastructure funding with Housing Delivery.

A Bus Strategy for South Yorkshire

The Bus Strategy forms an integral part of the South Yorkshire Local Transport Plan and sets out a strategy for the development of an integrated transport system to become the travel choice for all by:

  • meeting the needs of the people and businesses of South Yorkshire
  • being affordable, accessible, reliable, safe, well publicised and easily understood.

All this is explained in the Bus Strategy, which you can read by downloading individual chapters.
