On Monday 15 October 2007 work will start to construct the entrance and exit to the new Park & Ride site at Parrots Corner on the A638.
This work marks the beginning of a key stage in the construction of the A638 Quality Bus Corridor along Bawtry Road.
The initial works will start on the A638 a little way south of its junction with the B6463 Sheep Bridge Lane. Temporary traffic signals will be introduced to restrict vehicles passing the works to one single lane in alternate directions.
These lane closures are essential for the safety of the workforce and general public and will enable the work to be completed more efficiently.
This work will have little or no impact on traffic using Sheep Bridge Lane when approaching from Rossington. Work is scheduled to be finished by 21 December 2007.
These temporary signals will only be operated during off peak hours, (ie 0930 to 1530). The traffic signals will also be controlled manually to ensure that the traffic flows are managed and coordinated with the nearby permanent traffic signalled controlled junction.
Theses arrangements are being put in place to ensure traffic can travel smoothly into and out of Doncaster.
David Young, Head of Transport Integration at South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE) said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Doncaster residents, motorists and bus passengers for their continued patience and co-operation during this phase of the construction period.
“When the new Park & Ride site is completed it will provide safe, secure and convenient parking for around 400 cars. Everyone using this new transport facility will then be able to catch a reliable bus into the town centre, taking advantage of the new highway layout along Bawtry Road.”
