EXTRA bus services will be provided for football fans travelling to watch Sheffield Wednesday (SWFC) and Leeds United (LUFC) on Saturday 25 April 2015.
The fixture takes place during the next phase of essential engineering work on the Supertram network in Sheffield. Supertram Yellow Route services (serving Leppings Lane) will not run between Cathedral and Middlewood, and Supertram Blue Route services (serving Hillsborough) will not run between Shalesmoor and Malin Bridge on the day of the match.
South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE) and local public transport operators, Stagecoach Supertram, Stagecoach in Sheffield and First South Yorkshire, have worked with South Yorkshire Police and SWFC to provide alternative arrangements for fans planning to travel by local public transport.
An enhanced bus service will run for SWFC fans from Angel Street (outside Argos) and Castle Street (opposite the Co-op). Double deck vehicles will run on all First core routes between the city and Hillsborough, and extra buses will run on First services 53 and 85.
Return travel can be made from bus stops on Middlewood Road and Penistone Road. Extra buses will run from Penistone Road after the match.
Dedicated Stagecoach bus services will run for LUFC fans from near Sheffield rail station and provide access to the Hillsborough ground. Return travel on these services will be available from Middlewood Park & Ride, with stewards and police on hand. Middlewood Park & Ride car park will be closed on the day.
Supertram Blue Route services will be suspended to and from Shalesmoor and Supertram replacement bus services B5 and Y5 will not run in the Hillsborough area, due to capacity limitations, during a two-hour period before and after the match.
